What roles can I create for myself in MétaMusique?
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to your questions by consulting our FAQ section

I'm not sure if I have an ISNI number. How can I check?

If you have a creator role, it is highly likely that an ISNI number has been assigned to you in the past, sometimes even without your knowledge. After adding all your roles in MétaMusique, you can search for and assign your ISNI number. It is possible to assign multiple ISNI numbers to yourself. These numbers will be merged during the year 2024 by ISNI-IA, the agency that oversees and governs the use of ISNI internationally. If you don’t have a number, MétaMusique can assign one to you for free.

I play multiple roles in the industry. Can I add them all on MétaMusique?

Yes! Regardless of your involvement in the music industry, whether you are a representative of a company, a technician, or a creator, you have the opportunity to add them all on MétaMusique!

I have a solo career but also play in several bands. Do I need to open an account for each of my activities?

No. If you play different instruments in different groups, you can enter them all under the “Performer” role that you added to your profile.

Can I grant access to my MétaMusique account to a third party?

Yes! In your profile under the “Intervenants et rôles” > “Intervenants vérifiés” section, click on the name of the intervenant of your choice and go to the “Gestionnaire de l’intervenant” section. You can add an intervenant manager with three levels of access to your account:

Administrator: Full access to the account, including metadata creation and intervenant management.

  • Read-write: Full access to create works, sound recordings, and/or publications.
  • Read-only: Limited access for viewing works, sound recordings, and/or publications without the ability to make modifications.
How can I be sure I have entered all the right tags?

MetaMusique allows you to select tags from a list of 6000 tags referenced by everynoise.com, notably used by Spotify.

For effective tag attribution, follow the steps below:

  • Search for musical genres that characterize your music.
Example: “pop,” “alternative pop,” “indie pop.”
  • Important: The word sequence matters. No results will be obtained if you enter “pop indie,” but the tag “indie pop” will appear if you reverse them.
Search for terms added in the language in which you sing. Conduct the search in the relevant language and in English.
  • Example: “French pop,” “French indie pop,” “French electro-pop,” “new French song.”
Search for styles added with the name of your city, province, or country.
  • Example: “Montreal indie,” “Quebec indie,” “Canadian pop,” “Canadian indie.”
  • Ultimately, if you make independent-alternative French pop, you could assign yourself the following 13 hashtags: “pop,” “alternative pop,” “indie pop,” “French pop,” “French indie pop,” “French electro-pop,” “new French song,” “Montreal indie,” “Quebec indie,” “Quebecois pop,” “Quebec indie,” “Canadian pop,” “Canadian indie.”
  • This procedure should not be restrictive. We encourage you to be creative and try any term that could define your musical style.
